The Salt Lake County Division of Youth Services Advisory Board is comprised of concerned individuals from a wide sector of our community. Board members serve on one of three standing committees:
- Public Relations - This subcommittee assists with fund-raising events and the appreciation picnic, supports Shelter parent recruitment efforts, develops a speaker's bureau and makes community contacts with service organizations, churches, and groups. They also help publicize newsworthy items.
- Legislation and Administration - Members e-mail or call legislators to support local issues. General policy decisions are discussed and they send support letters to funding partners such as the Division of Child and Family Services for more equitable program funding.
- Program Development - Projects include expanding the guitar program to other division residential programs, promoting the awareness of the Safe Place Program, and visiting Safe Place sites for feedback and suggestions on strengthening the program. They also develop evaluations such as a satisfaction survey and an outcome evaluation.
- Outreach efforts to connect or develop resources are discussed. Other projects include improving and strengthening existing programs.
The Advisory Board members are involved in several projects. They continue their support of the annual fund-raising events, participate in the Commission on Youth Legislative Luncheon, the Boys' Group Home Music Program and other special events.
The Advisory Board members' talent, expertise and enthusiasm make a positive impact on the programs. The Division values their hard work and commitment.
